To keep both your natural hair and extensions looking and feeling their best, it’s essential to provide them with proper nutrition and moisture. Unlike your natural hair, extensions don’t have hair follicles and sit slightly away from the scalp, which means they don’t benefit from the scalp’s natural oils. This makes them more prone to dryness and in greater need of extra hydration and nourishment.
Dry weather—especially during winter—can further strip moisture from the hair. To combat this, the two most important products to include in your routine are a sulphate-free shampoo and a deeply nourishing conditioner. A good shampoo helps deliver moisture and essential nutrients, while a conditioner works to seal the hair cuticle, locking in hydration and smoothness.
For an extra moisture boost, use a hydrating hair mask once or twice a week. While a hair mask is a great addition to your regimen, it should not replace your conditioner—always follow up with conditioner to ensure your hair remains soft, manageable, and protected.
